Wei Ting Lin's "Rose Garden": A Fusion of Eastern and Western Design

Award-winning Villa Blends Hui Style Architecture with Italian Aesthetics

The "Rose Garden" project is a testament to Wei Ting Lin's innovative approach to design. The villa is characterized by its "white walls and black tiles", mezzanines, paifang, and lattice windows, all typical features of Hui Style architecture. The design also incorporates elements such as a courtyard pool, a curvilinear ceiling, and ripple-inspired stairs, all reflecting the fluidity of water flow.

One of the unique features of this project is the careful selection of materials, color schemes, crafts, and furniture to reflect the owner's preference for an Italian lifestyle. The designer has partnered with a company renowned for its iron crafts to create an aesthetic and majestic staircase. The balusters, customized to match the turns of the staircase, present a visual effect of water ripples, adding to the villa's unique charm.

Wei Ting Lin's innovative design solutions also address practical issues. Traditional Hui Style architecture often faces north, leading to a lack of daylight. To resolve this, the designer removed part of the floor slabs around the staircase to form an atrium and adopted large windows, allowing light to reach the underground floors. Stainless steel statues inspired by different water forms are placed in the open spaces around the staircase, reflecting light and enhancing the overall brightness of the space.

The "Rose Garden" project, completed in 2022 in Hangzhou, is a perfect example of the fusion of eastern and western cultures. The design team has successfully integrated the Italian style interiors with the Chinese Hui Style architecture, creating a harmonious blend of cultures. The minimalistic and modern decor further reduces any potential conflict between the two styles, resulting in a truly unique living space.
